My name is Sarah, and I got a female puppy from you back on March 3, 2013… the name you gave her was originally Olivia… and was changed to Gunny when she came home with me. She is doing very well, and is loved and spoiled by me. She is a fully trained and certified Service Animal working as a medical assistance dog. She is smart as a whip and she takes care of me as much as I take care of her. I’m attending Algonquin College now, and she has been featured for the Service Animals on Campus Awareness Campaign… to educate and raise awareness about service animals at the college campus.

That is Tila, I adopted her from you about 18 months ago (her bday is May 5th 2017 father Rhett and mother Misty) she has literally safed my life. This little chi detected my breast cancer in February 2018. I love her so much and think of you and my appreciation for bringing her life so she could save mine.

Thank you .

Thank you for the care that you provided our two dogs for those times we left them with you. It was always a comfort knowing that they were in good hands. AND, not once did they come back to us with giardia or kennel cough as had happened in other kennels where the dogs mix freely.

Best regards to both of you,

Bob

Hi Shirley, Thanks for taking such good care of Aussie and Maddie. I appreciate how nice they looked when they came home. I have sent an etransfer.
Thanks again Chris Appleby DVM

HI SHIRLEY
I PURCHASED AN AFRICAN GREY FROM YOU ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO AND JUST LOVE HER TO DEATH. SHE IS THE MOST WELL BEHAVED BIRD EVER.

-Deborah

He has been doing very well coming into his new family. The kids are non stop chasing him to cuddle him, which he takes well though we try and limit this so he doesn’t go nuts.
Bath time is not his favorite activity, though he accepts it.
My wife (Sue) has become Gilbert’s (formerly Chandler) main companion, he runs to her first in every situation, then me second and the kids if nobody else is here.
My step son has real struggles with doing homework, getting frustrated very easily as he is an over achiever/perfectionist. Each evening homework is a very challenging tasks ending up in broken writing implements, yelling and overall stress… we have now set him up to take Gilbert in his room alone and do the homework there and there has been no issues since! That’s one example of the many positive things Gilbert has brought to our home. So thank you very much for a lovely new family member!.

Hi Shirley,we just got home a bit ago.He is so cute and has been snuggling with my daughter since we got him.He will be well loved for sure.Thank you. Brian London, Ont

Hey Shirley;

Just a quick update, her new name is Aria and she loves Salem, they get along like they have always known each other. She met our horses, they like her and she seems to like them too, she’s a bit wary of our chickens though. She did really well in the car which is nice, I know she can handle being our sidekick on our road trips 🙂

Thank you so much for her lovely little self 🙂

Hi Shirley

Here is a picture of Cheyenne. He is so handsome. My mom, who is 86 years old and lives with me, has taken a shine to him and visa versa. He sleeps with her.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send the pics. The dogs have their own room in the house, haha, so I was planning on framing some pictures of them as babies. I attached a few pictures for you, just so you can see how well they are doing.

36Hi Shirley,

Belle is doing absolutely great! She is very well behaved, she is the sweetest little girl and seems to be getting well adjusted to her new home! Belle knows how to use her pee pad and as a result, we haven’t had any accidents in our house. I took her to the vet today, she weighs 1.1 kg and is healthy as can be. She has bursts of energy that keep us well entertained and she likes to nuzzle right up to my chest, or close to my face when she wants to take a nap. I absolutely fell in love with her as well as my whole family. She is adorable! Thank you for this bundle of joy and love! I also want to thank you for letting me come and see Belle many times when she was too young to leave, even when I called you last minute! It has helped her to be familiar with me. She knew exactly who I was when I brought her home, it helped a lot! I will make sure to give her all the love in the world. Thanks for checking in, and hope all is well with you! Also, whenever a family member or friend wants an addition to their family, I will suggest Sunset Chihuahua’s. Thank you for the great experience- advice, last minute visits and for making Belle a well adjusted little puppy.

Hi Shirley,

First I would like to thank you for providing me with such wonderful family members. As always, you have been fantastic. You have always been patient with answering my numerous questions and providing information. I would recommend Sunsets Chihuahua’s to anyone and everyone! I now have 2 wonderful Chihuahua’s – Carlos and Coco. They are the sweetest little pups I have ever seen. You can tell they were well loved and taken care of by you. They are affectionate, playful, and healthy. They are getting along great! Even though they have only been together for 2 days. That shows they were well socialized while with you. After purchasing Carlos almost a year ago, I knew you were the only person to consider when it came to the recent purchase of Coco. Who knows, maybe a 3rd Chihuahua will be in the future. If so, you are the only person I would go to. I am confident in the quality of Chihuahua’s you provide as well as the exceptional customer service. Once again, thank you for my fantastic little family. Keep up the great work!

Hi Shirley,
It was wonderful to finally meet you and see Bear”s new home.  I know he will be much happier with company all day.

Thank you so much for the tour of your beautiful property and all the renovations.  I know why you would never want to leave such a peaceful and georgeous spot on the water. I really enjoyed our talk and spending time with all the puppies.  I see you got the website up and got new pictures of the dogs – they are all amazing.  With the loving attention you give to each one of them, it must be so hard to let them go.

I know Bear must be pretty happy if he is talking away.  So much better then being alone all day here.  my Mom would be so glad to see him enjoying his golden years.  He’ll be so excited when he gets to meet his real live girlfriend – he’s been pretty frisky with both his grey and blonde cozy huts, haha.  I hope he is gentle and appreciates his new companion.

No thanks needed for the donation to Bear’s care – it is my pleasure.  I still can’t believe that people expect you to not only rescue their birds and dogs, without providing for their care, but expect you to pick them up too!  unbelievable. You are so generous Shirley.  I’m sure that you’re still coaching that “breeder” in Toronto through the entire process.  Hopefully he’s not still calling 10 times a day.  You have a ton of patience lady.

Thank you again for everything and I would love to see pictures of Bear with his new lady someday.
Take care and please keep in touch.

Marika

Oh Shirley,
She’s LOVELY! We just had dinner with her and already she’s comfortable enough to join in.  I can’t thank you enough for the special care you showed my family when they arrived late – though I did have to laugh that most of Lindsay’s impressions were of all those cute puppies!
thank you again and we’ll definitely keep you updated on her progress.
Heather

Hi Shirley,
just wanted to stop by and let you know Paige is doing really well. She had her second needle on Monday and the vet said she is very healthy. She now weighs 3.3 lbs. and is doing well with training to use the bathroom outdoors and pee pads inside when it is to cold. She is a beautiful puppy with lots of energy and lots of love for us. She is super cuddly and loves to play. My kids, myself and my husband love her very much and are so glad we got our little girl from you. We have socialized her with a few other dogs both big and small, and she is nervous at first but warms up to them quickly and shows them who’s the boss. Its so cute. I would highly recommend you as a breeder to anyone looking for a Chihuahua in the future. I have attached a few pictures of Paige for you to see. Hope you enjoy them and thanks you very much for everything.

Dallas

Hey Shirley!
Sorry, that is correct! He is 6.3 lbs! He stands very proud! Most of the time! He is very shy and timid with strangers and strange places. But once he is familiar and comfortable he does much much better. He starts puppy classes on Tuesday! More so for socializing and the basic commands! I’m positive he will do wonderful! Yes, please use us as a reference! If you would like better pictures I am happy to send more! He is a true snuggler at heart. He loves his kisses and snuggles. He really is our baby! 🙂

Hi Shirley!
She’s doing great! We boiled chicken and rice and vegetables yesterday for her and she has been eating that very well with a little bit of her kibble mixed in. She’s peeing and pooping on her pee pad and we’ve got her things all set up in a playpen. She’s become very attached to me, although she’s not liking my husband very much, haha! We are on the way to get bottled water because she isn’t very interested in our water! Thank you so much for such an amazing addition to our family! We love her dearly!!

Julia

Hi Shirley…
Nope, she never leaves my side or takes her eyes off me. Even when she’s laying in her bed she will always be peaking with her brown eyes! I love that closeness though. That’s why I wanted a dog like her. Even at night she has to feel my body. If I move, she does too. When I do have to leave her at home I get reports that she lays in her bed and sulks or just sleeps. Amy takes care of her most times I’m gone so Lillie accepts her as a second mommy. When I do get home I don’t think her little tail could wiggle and faster or it would fall off.

She is a really good girl, very quiet and lady like when I take her out. I can take her into any store in her purse and nobody even knows she’s in there :). She is very friendly with other people. But, I find people are reluctant to pet her. I think the breed has a bad reputation for barking and aggressiveness which is too bad because she is a sweetheart and has never bitten anyone. As for strangers touching her, I’m glad. I don’t like people doing that anyway.

I will keep in touch.

Donna

Good afternoon Shirley,
The vet and all the staff at the clinic were delighted with our new little boy, they were trying to keep him! It was pass the puppy all around the place. Dr. Barnes was very happy with him, he is such a happy and healthy little boy,, and Piper has decided that he likes him already, course, accepting that Tiny Tango will be staying, and better than he did with Piper, so that is definitely progress! We will send you updates as often as you want them (or maybe more than you want) on your special gift to our family and thank you so much for our new little boy!
I knew that you were attached to him, and can only thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting us adopt him!

Ginny

Mabel is doing amazing 🙂 she slept threw the night and didn’t even make a peep once only at 7 am when she had to pee. She had no accidents at all so far but and even went for a little walk on the leash around and parents yard without fussing.. She is perfect. Thank you so much again I’m so in love.  We changed her name to Pika.

Melissa

Hi!
I’m not sure if you remember me. We bought Tango & Tou Tou’s baby almost 2 years ago and named him Axel. He’s is such a good dog, we love him so much. I have a friend that wants to buy a male the same size, same look and approx the same price that we paid for Axel. I was wondering if you could email me if ever you have an axel “clone” because my friend would be interested.

Christiane 🙂

Hi Shirley,
Griffin had his booster today and he now weights 3lbs 4ozs. He is soooo beautiful happy and healthy. Every day I am thankful for finding your website. I could not picture life without Griffin now.

Anytime I sleep he is cuddled into my neck and stays there as long as I do. I felt bad as I know he would have been playing if I was up. Griffin has given my such peace of mind I just love him so much.

Your puppies are the best I have seen, and you being so helpful and easy to get along with is why people want to deal with you. Hope you have a great weekend.

Dorothy

Hi Shirley,
Me and my wife are truly thankful for the bundle of joy you were a major part of. We purchased ‘Daphne’ from you back in July 2012. She’s a real sweetheart and she’s been zero trouble in our household. Have a great day,

Jordan

They are so happy together, as you can tell Hunter has got himself beat out. I am so glad that I bought them both from you.

Katie

Hi Shirley,
Just wanted to send you a quick update on Mabel (We’ve changed her name to Pika). She made it home without incident – a little bit of drool, but no vomiting – and has settled in very nicely. She was a bit shy when she first got home, but now she’s running around like she owns the place and is very much enjoying all the toys.

Attached is a picture of her helping me out while I was working at home 🙂

Thanks again,
Jenn

Hi Shirley,
Thought you’d appreciate this picture of Thor. He absolutely loves his new home. He is having a bit of a hard time being separated from Scott and I but I’m sure he will get use to it soon!

Melanie

Hi Shirley…
I miss my little Lillie so very much, I so wish now she had stayed with you. She did not eat very much, didn’t bark at all (which is so not her) and just waited at the top of the stairs waiting for me….ughhh. She was so excited when I arrived home, she ate and ran around like a crazy lady for hours. She settled down at night and cuddled close to me all night.

Donna

Hi Shirley ,
We have settled on his new name . Rico lol couldn’t call him Clark as that is my sons name. He is eating well and getting better with the sleeping. I think he has grown a .lot this week. He kidnaps every shoe and slipper as soon as I take them off . I think he I adjusting well I took him to the groomers today to get his nails trimmed and he was perfect.

Dawn

Hi Shirley.
Georgia is really doing well. She loves everyone!

MaryAnn

Hi Shirley,
Thanks for all the info. His low blow sugar spell only happened once. Like I said he has adapted very well to his new home, he is very happy puppy!

Liza

Hi shirley. Titus is doing wonderful. He ate well last night and today and has been having bottled water. He’s adorable and feisty! Thank you

Leanne

Hi Shirley,
Thanks soo much for your email. Gabriel…is amazing!! He was sooo good in the car, no car sickness.

He did cry last night a little, but we expected that with the change in his environment.

He ate the canned food in the morning, and then we mixed the canned food with some dry food that we wet and he ate that in the evening. Should he be eating 2 times a day? And for how long?

He was extremely tired today, not sure how much sleep he got last night in his new home. Just about to get him ready for bed.

Sincerely,

J. O.

Good morning Shirley,
Phoebe (Mindy) continues to do very well. Her vet was very happy with her yesterday. She is letting strangers pet her and is more relaxed when children pass by. She loves to explore the back yard and really enjoys her walks. She has the most beautiful personality I am so happy to have found her.

She loves her back yard! She has really settled in since we last emailed. Last week she had her surgery and everything went very well. Today I am planning to take out her sutures. She is a very happy and affectionate little girl and everybody who meets her absolutely falls in love with her.

Sincerely Vanessa

Hi !

Ryan

Hi Shirley,
They are amazing! They are doing very well. It was incredible to see how they reacted to us last night and in to today. They are eating very well. We are giving them bottled water. Tanya just called me and told me that they are now right in their bowls drinking. They slept in bed with us last night and what an experience that was! LOL… Ashton woke me up at 115 am and I knew that he had to pee so I brought him downstairs and away he went. They are actually very well trained for their washroom habits. Unbelievable actually. We are going to be taking them outside and training them to let us know when they have to go out.

Tanya and I couldn’t be happier. They spoiled the hell out of them at the pet shop and are looking to buy more just to see the joy that it brings them. We can’t thank you enough for sending these 2 beautiful little pups our way. Please stay in touch as I would love to send you pictures of their changes.

Take care,

Len, Tanya, Ella, & Ashton…

Good morning Shirley,
I just wanted to share with you my experience with the training at Petsmart has helped Benson A LOT to socialize more! No one could EVER approach him, and now he goes and sees people and licks them. Every kid that passed by (since our neighbors have a lot of kids) he used to be at them all the time, now he’s used to seeing them and doesn’t say a word. I would suggest the Petsmart Beginners class to anyone, the lady in Orleans was GREAT!!!! She gave me a few tricks to practice at home, which in class Benson is not concentrated and more interested at what is going on everywhere… The trainer could not even take Benson’s leash and make him walk, now only after 5 courses, she was able too!

One thing with chihuahuas is that they are very protective of their owners, which I knew but not until I started the classes which is why he barked at mostly anything! In classes, I’ve learned that Benson barks at other dogs when I hold his leash (being protective of me), however when the trainer holds his leash, his tail is between his legs and doesn’t say a word, it’s just funny!!! He’s a quick learner at tricks! I’ve been bringing him to dog park, which is helping him socialize more, he runs away from other dogs and depending on the size, he plays with them, it’s cute to see! Benson will be graduating this Sunday! I would love to come see you one of these days with Benson and see all of your new littles ones. I regret not introducing Benson to children right away, but one day it will come to the point where I will want my own kids and he will have to get used to them.

Hope all is well with you.

Regards,

Marie

Hi Shirley,
Im not sure if you remember me, but I’m the proud Momma of Carlos (Mickey). He is doing fantastic! He just went to the vet to be neutered.
While there he had his dew claws removed and a couple of teeth. That didn’t slow him down though! He’s a hyper bundle of joy that’s for sure…the cats aren’t quite enough for him to play with. That’s the reason for this email. I would LOVE to have another! I was thinking a little girl. Do you have any available? Ive attached a picture of handsome Carlos….

Kelli

Hi Shirley,
Thank you for the lovely e-mail.. Oh and my Griffin never left my side, anytime I was sleeping he was cuddled into my neck and stayed there as long as I did. I felt bad as I know he would have been playing if I was up. Griffin has given my such peace of mind I just love him so much.

Hi Shirley,
Mittz is getting really comfy now and just doesn’t want to get down.  He is currently asleep between my arms while I type this e-mail.  He slept in bed the whole night cuddled into my wife with his legs up in the air.  He is so precious.  We absolutely love him!!!

Hi Shirley
Thanks very much for the photos of Hazel (Elisha) and for the spay/neuter information..I just wanted to let you know that Hazel has settled in beautifully after 2 1/2 days .. You suggested that I put an article of my grandson’s clothing in her bed so she was accustomed to his scent and it worked., so I thought why not try the same idea for my older dog who Hazel was not accepting at all. So I put Pixie’s very used blanket in Hazel’s bed last night and now the problem seems to be completely resolved, they are getting along very well now. We are really enjoying our new puppy, thanks again for all your help.
Beth (Ottawa area)

Hi Shirley,
Calvin (Vijay) is doing great! He loves his canned mousse and only would eat his hard food if it had some of the mousse in it and he’s drinking bottled water just fine. He slept all night and napped all day when he wasn’t meeting family members. He’s cuddling everyone just fine but the second he’s down he’s following me or Cody. He didn’t get car sick at all on the drive home.
